The kid that gets this beige 2003 Corolla and silver 2001 RX is almost guaranteed to end up an actuary.
Toy cars are supposed to be Ferraris and ‘57 Chevys and Range Rovers. Not the boringest vehicles ever halfheartedly stamped out of metal and plastic. It’s bad enough these cars exist in real life. Why in model form, too?
Why???

I’d buy one for irony.

I had a Camry die-cast when I was little.

My dad also bought a 1:whatever scale model 2009 Camry shortly after we bought the real thing. It’s still there, perched on the old CRT TV, but it’s a bit cleaner than the real one in my driveway.

It’s like a suburban Seattle starter pack.
I have a good old friend who started in an actuarial role, makes a very nice salary.
When he was younger he had a cool Monte Carlo SS. Now he is married, drives a greybeige Odyssey, and the Monte is off the road.

This is SOLID GOLD in our world at Live and Let Diecast.
I would be suuuper stoked to get these for Christmas.
One quick thing to change your mind. You can get a larger 1:18 LaFerrari, Bugatti Chiron, Ford GT for under $25. I challenge you to find a 1:18 Camry or Lexus IS at anything close to that price.
Again, basic cars like the ones a loved one of yours may happen to drive in real life is absolutely fantastic and highly sought after by diecast collectors.
Check out LaLD and how we all went totally bonkers over a recent purchase of some Saturns.
You have every right to be any type of auto enthusiast. But never forget especially here in the JalOPPOLaLD world that we are fans of the odd and unusual :]
I would 100% drool hardcore at an extra clean and maintained 90's-00'so Corolla or Altima over some rich doucher in a Fezza

This makes my decision to never have children sound reasonable. Also I don’t like kids.

Actually, as a kid I preferred models of cars that I saw all around me.
I like these!

As an extremely OCD person, as a kid, I pined for toys like this because when I made my little Hot Wheels cities, I needed normal cars to fill up my parking lots and such.

This is the truth. I can find countless Ferrari or Aston Martin or Porsche die-casts, but there’s only one of my own car.

I’m afraid not. Didn’t take any pictures before I moved out, but it’s still there.

Those look exciting compared to some in my collection.
I have a white 1/43 Aveo sedan. I don’t think you can get much more boring than that.

Herpa makes a small one series, not the correct bumper (unless you have an m sport) but close enough

Maybe the parents were the boring ones if this is what some kid received.
But, I searched high and low to find a “stock” diecast toy of my Toyota, and I found one that was the exact car, same color, same everything. I’ll do a photo shoot when it’s warmer again, we got about 8" today here on the hill.

Ha my most boring models are a 1:18 2002 Saturn Vue and a 1:24 2002 Buick Rendezvous. I love them both.
